Japanese electronics companies, particularly the electronic parts and components providers, have been known for their “low profile.” They rarely show up in exhibitions and shows, and spend rather limited resources in marketing campaigns in China if compared with their counterparts in Europe and the United States. The soon-to-open CHTF 2006, however, proved to be an exception, where a good many Japanese-funded electronics companies such as NEC, OKI, TDK, Murata Manufacturing, Taiyo Yuden, Omron, Sony Chemical, Suneast Electric and NITTO DENKO will make a collective, high profile presence, and therefore a cynosure at the Fair.
NEC will be the most noteworthy one of its kind at the Electronics Exhibition of CHTF 2006. Apart from the mono-chip machines, power controls and digital audio-video semiconductors, NEC will also host seminars on “all-flash memory mono-chip machine” and “mono-chip module development tools” in duration of the Electronics Exhibition. Japanese players in the passive element field are also very enthusiastic. Murata Manufacturing will debut the “Murata Boy,” a bicycle-peddling robot made with Murata’s latest sensor technologies. Other well-known providers of passive elements such as Taiyo Yuden and TDK will also present their latest technologies and products at the show. These companies will also send their delegates to deliver keynote speeches at the “2006 International Passive Element Technology and Market Development Forum.” Suneast Electric, who will come to the show for the first time, is a Japanese company specialized in electronic materials accounting for more than 50 percent of the global market for LCD polarized films and polarized sheets. An official in charge with the company said, “We have noticed the changes in our clients, and that China is picking up in its R&D. We therefore decided to improve our communications with Chinese R&D people through our participation in the Electronics Exhibition.”
One of the three major shows of professional products during the CHTF, the Electronics Exhibition will emphasize on the most talked-about technologies such as semiconductors and IC designing, passive elements, leadless manufacturing technologies, electronic materials, manufacturing equipment, testing and measuring technologies. The Electronics Exhibition will be staged in the Exhibition Hall 2 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, covering a total area of 15,000 square meters.
