Full-scale Move Kicks off for the Organizing of Domestic Delegations for China Hi-tech Fair 2006, Highlighting 3 Themes: Proprietary Innovation, Recycling Economy and IPR Protection

   May 10, 2006, the First Domestic Delegation Organizating Work Conference for China Hi-tech Fair 2006 opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Chen Yingchun, vice director of CHTF Organizing Committee and vice mayor of Shenzhen and Yu Zhongda, vice secretary general and director of General Administration Office of Zhejiang Provincial Government addressed the conference. Also present were leaders from institutional organizers of the fair, as well as approximately 100 representatives from all 31 provinces and 11 universities. The opening of the conference marked the official kickoff of a full-scale move for the organizing of domestic government and university delegations for CHTF 2006. Compared with the previous CHTFs, CHTF 2006 will highlight a number of new features:

    1) it will highlight 3 major themes,i.e., proprietary innovation, recycling economy and IPR protection; 2) it will highlight CHTF's feature of integrating technical resources to facilitate technical innovation of the enterprises; 3) it will introduce a number of innovative models to Commercialization of Technological Innovation and highlight the practical effects of the forums, super-SUPER and other theme activities; and 4) it will seek tighter knitting of High-tech Human and Intellectual Resources Exchange and Commercialization of Technological Innovation.

    To emphasize the themes, a special recycling economy fair will be organized. In addition, an “Individual Technological Innovation Fair” will be staged to offer a platform for individual talents to release, display and seek cooperation opportunities for their patented inventions and “non-consensus” items.

    Preparation for CHTF 2006 has been progressing smoothly. German, Spanish and Italian governments have confirmed their participation and reserved booths for their delegations. A number of other countries, including India, the Netherlands, Sweden and Russia have indicated their intension of organizing government-lead delegations for the fair. Back in China, all 31 provinces and 24 universities/colleges have expressed their intention of participation. Notably, about 5,000m2, or 45% of total exhibition areas available for the IT Fair have been contracted and reserved. For Electronic Fair and Photoelectric and Flat Panel Display Fair, the figures are 3,000m2, 50% and 1,000m2, 30% respectively. A number of transnational or renowned Chinese/international companies, including Motorola, Siemens, LG, Archos, SAP, Dupont, Hitachi Information Systems, Viatech, Foxconn, 3M, Murata, Asahi, Sony, Torex, Tin Chang, Golana, Glory Star, Perkin Elmer, Tianma, SVA and BOE have reserved booths or expressed their intention of participation. In terms of the forums, Minister of Trade and Minister of Communication of Ireland and Minister of Science and Technology of Cuba have pledged to attend “Ministerial Forum”, while Hitachi, China Mobile and Skyworth have expressed their initial interest in holding special technological forums during the fair. In the meantime, other preparations for CHTF 2006 are being made in accordance with a tight but well-structure timetable.
